The SplintCourse is designed to simplify the diagnosis, prescription and delivery of Occlusal Appliances for GDPs.

The course comprehensively covers anatomy, diagnosis and the management of patients suffering with TMD and/or Bruxism, with reference to the Evidence Base as well as understanding when to refer such patients.

Aims & Objectives

Aims:
- To provide a comprehensive overview of splints for the general dental practitioner (GDP)
- To help the GDP to select an appropriate appliance in the management of the parafunctional patient
Objectives:
- To learn to diagnose signs and symptoms of parafunction
- To appreciate the role of splint therapy in the management of parafunction, with focus on numerous types of splints to understand their mechanisms
- To gain in-depth knowledge in the various types of splints, their indications, contraindications, fabrication (including laboratory stages)

A. Effective communication with patients, the dental team, and others across dentistry, including when obtaining consent, dealing with complaints, and raising concerns when patients are at risk
